Echelon4 has announced some downtime they will be having soon which will effect the main server they make use of, this is to allow them to clean up the machines internals, optimize where needed and i assume replace any faulty equipment in the process. They have announced that it should take around one hour to fix everything up but they will be routing DNS to another server in the meantime and of course altering there users.
Below is a snippet of the announcement:
Our main server, irc.echelon4.net, will taken offline on Saturday, September 20th beginning at 0200 hours (2:00AM) EST (Eastern Standard Time). The machine itself needs to be cleaned badly, this is how I maintain the health of the systems internal hardware, and is a personal preference at the same time. Anyway, the downtime is expected to last for about 30 minutes, however, I'll say 1 hour to be safe. In the meantime, we have irc.nixsecurity.org available to our users, for use. Global messages will be sent out network-wide, indicating this exact information an hour or two before the actual downtime, and will continue periodically until the actual downtime.
Therefore, you can expect the server to be back on-line and operational no later then 0300 hours (3:00AM). We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause you, however, I hope you understand how vital this is to our server :)
