GeekShed IRC Launched

It would appear not only did i hit a nerve but my lack of 'Journalism' has also pissed one or two off, the last story was WyldRyde 'acquired' and had i actually done some research then yes i would have got to the bottom of it all rather quickly. Now not having taken a part in the network on a daily basis (mostly due to the fact it was a competitor when it came to IRC News ) doesnt help matters (for me) so here is what I have managed to find out in a somewhat guesstimation of whats happened!

WyldRyde has been sold
The root admin did not take into account who owns the servers
The server admins did not take the purchase very well and are not happy, most if not all split their servers
The server admins come together to form 'GeekShed' looking to maintain what made WR popular and remove the sucky stuff

Hopefully this about sums it up, if not then here is a snippet from the 'migration notice' provided by the GeeksShed network:
Due to differences of interest involving the continued operation of WyldRyde, the majority of active staff - including server owners - have decided to retract their services from WyldRyde and start fresh elsewhere. To this end, GeekShed.net has been formed, under the ownership of Geek Shed Ltd (UK Registered Company #07055433). It is proposed that this be a fun, safe and friendly hang out which is very much driven by user opinions and ideas. With your support, it can only get better!

The new IRC network, found at irc.geekshed.net, is comprised of most of the same technically competent network staff, the same vast array of distributed servers, the same services package with its database, and the same comprehensive botnet filtering techniques. Also moving with us is the flash chat application, topic RSS feeds and user count images which many users have grown to love since their introduction some 12-15 months ago
